Support from Nordic Choice will go towards Asia’s largest remaining rainforests, on the island of New Guinea, as well as helping to protect particularly vulnerable areas for indigenous groups in the Amazon.
The rainforest is truly astounding. It is home to over half of all earth’s plant and animal species, yet covers only six per cent of the planet’s surface. Millions of people live in the rainforest, and it provides them with almost everything they need. However, even those of us who live thousands of kilometres away from it need the essential medicines the rainforest provides and rely on its contribution to regulating the global climate.
As much as 20 per cent of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions are the result of the destruction of tropical forest. When deforestation of the rainforest accounts for one fifth of human-generated CO2 emissions, it is natural – and vital – to focus on preventing it.
Protecting the rainforest is by far the quickest and most cost-effective action we can take on climate change. Therefore, Nordic Choice supports Rainforest Foundation Norway’s global work, but the rainforest also needs your support.

Nordic Choice has entered into a partnership agreement with UNICEF, which via its local offices will initiate projects to dig wells.
Clean water is the key to a better future for all children. UNICEF’s work to provide water can help create a “virtuous circle”, whereby having water and good sanitation enables children to go to school.
Clean water is often just 100 metres beneath the feet of the children who need it, so building wells is an excellent solution in areas without access to clean water. On average, digging a well costs little more than NOK 20,000, and UNICEF is currently supporting well-building projects in Africa, Asia and South America.
The wells are built by local UNICEF offices in partnership with the local population, and are financed by UNICEF’s partners. Nordic Choice has now become a UNICEF partner, and will help finance the building of wells where children need them most.
