The “Penguin” environmental management system has been implemented at all our Scandinavian hotels.
The environmental management system was established in accordance with the internationally recognised ISO 14001 standard, with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) as the certification body.
The transport and travel sector is responsible for 20 per cent of the world’s total greenhouse gas emissions.
As Scandinavia’s largest hotel chain, Nordic Choice Hospitality Group AS contributes to this problem. However, we must also help find a solution. Nordic Choice accepts responsibility, and adopts ambitious targets for its environmental initiatives. For many years we have prioritised the reduction of energy, water and chemical consumption. Through ISO certification we are further ramping up our environmental commitment.
There are several excellent environmental-mark schemes that document a company’s environmental work. Nordic Choice has chosen the internationally recognised ISO 14001 environmental management system, because this is best suited to the visions and activities we wish to pursue.
A key concept within the ISO standard is continual improvement, and our environmental management system was established with the aim of facilitating dynamic and ambitious environmental initiatives.
In November 2007 Nordic Choice entered into an agreement with our certifying body, Det Norske Veritas.
