Environment Certification
Operation Penguin is the name of the eco-management project that we implemented in all our Choice hotels in Scandinavia during the last years. Thanks to Penguin all our hotels are accredited to the internationally recognized ISO 14001 standard since 2009.
Transport and travelling is responsible for 20 % of the total emission of greenhouse gases in the world. As the largest hotel chain in Scandinavia, Choice Hotels Scandinavia is obviously part of the problem. But that also gives us the opportunity to be a part of the solution.
Our ambitions regarding the environmental issues are high and we take on the responsibility with great seriousness. For many years we’ve focused on decreasing our consumption of energy, water and chemicals. With the new ISO 14001 certificate we level up our environmental contributions even more.
Our choice to go with the ISO 14001 standard is based on our visions and ambitions with the environmental activities we engage in. The ISO 14001 standard focuses on continually improving the company’s eco-management system, and we agree that always pushing the efforts is an important part of environmental thinking.
